Caribou
Caribou Island is an uninhabited island in the eastern end of Lake Superior, 40 kms south of Michipicoten Island. The island is also known for its rugged terrain and scenic beauty, with rocky shores, dense forests, and clear waters that make it a popular destination for kayakers and other outdoor enthusiasts.
- "Caribou Island" is the title of a novel written by David Vann, which was published in 2011. The novel is set on a remote island in Alaska and follows the story of a middle-aged couple, Gary and Irene.
- One winter, in the 1920s, the caribou walked off the island when the lake froze over. Because of the Great Depression.
- Caribou Island is one of three thought to be the source of the spooky tales about demons (the others being Quirpon Island and Fischot Island).
