Fischot

Fischot Island, a tiny Canadian island in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador's most easterly boundaries, is said to be one of the inspirations for the story of the Isle of Demons. While the mythological island's actual location has never been proven, the fact that it is home to a loud colony of gannets (a species of seabird) may explain the many stories of wailing devils. It's an island that first appeared on maps in the 1500s and has long been associated with sailors' superstitions. It was rumored that anyone who tried to come close to the island - renowned for the thick veil of mist that hung over it - would be assaulted by these demons hidden in the mist.

  • Fischot Island is one of three thought to be the source of the spooky tales about demons (the others being Quirpon Island and Caribou Island).
